A Decade of Self-Delusion by Patrick J. Buchanan

About the first decade of what was to be the Second American Century, the pessimists have been proven right.
According to the International Monetary Fund, the United States began the century producing 32 percent of the world’s gross domestic product. We ended the decade producing 24 percent. No nation in modern history, save for the late Soviet Union, has seen so precipitous a decline in relative power in a single decade.
The United States began the century with a budget surplus. We ended with a deficit of 10 percent of gross domestic product, which will be repeated in 2010. Where the economy was at full employment in 2000, 10 percent of the labor force is out of work today and another 7 percent is underemployed or has given up looking for a job.
Between one-fourth and one-third of all U.S. manufacturing jobs have disappeared in 10 years, the fruits of a free-trade ideology that has proven anything but free for this country. Our future is being outsourced — to China.

Islam is the new religion in rebellious Mexican state Chiapas

Molino de los Arcos is one of the poorest neighbourhoods of San Cristóbal de las Casas, the second largest city in Chiapas and popular with tourists for its colonial beauty. The barrio is ethnically almost entirely indigenous, with Tzotzil Mayan as the dominant language. On Fridays, though, you can hear the slow, monotonous Arab chants of Muslim prayer. In a wooden shack, painted with Arab religious phrases, some twenty Tzotzil Muslim families have established a small place of worship.
“This is where we cleanse our spirits and pray to Allah. Not everyone came today, some people have to work,” Imam Salvador Lopez Lopez smiles. “But we are doing well. Our community is still small, we are maybe two hundred, but little by little we’re growing.”
Lopez converted to Islam in 1995 and adopted the Arab name of Muhammad Amin. He was one of the first Tzotzils to embrace the religion. He describes his conversion as a tough, two-year period of soul searching. “There is a lot of ignorance in Chiapas about Islam. Nobody really knew what it was and at first I myself wasn’t sure it was the thing for me. My family didn’t agree with it either at first. It was hard.”
Alternative to capitalism
There have always been Muslims in Mexico, but they were usually immigrants from Muslim countries in Africa and the Middle East. It wasn’t until 1995, when Spanish Muslims led by Aureliano Pérez left for Mexico to spread the word of Allah, that Mexicans themselves started converting to Islam.
The arrival of the Spanish can be seen in direct relation to the uprising of the Zapatista rebels in Chiapas, in 1994. They saw the impoverished state as fertile ground for the principles of Islam. Indigenous Mayans and Tzotzils have led marginalised lives ever since the Spanish conquest in the 16th century. They live in extreme poverty, suffer exploitation by corrupt governments and racism by white and mestizo Mexicans (people with mixed European and Native American racial origin). Alcoholism among indigenous Mexicans is rampant.
Shell Explores Cheap Labor Overseas

Royal Dutch Shell has activated a program to cut its overhead cost by transferring jobs hitherto executed in America and Europe to Asian countries where population explosion has made middle and high level manpower easily affordable.
The new measure is feared to be part of the mass sack of staff declared by the company to raise the company’s income profile by cutting cost.
The company had publicly announced it would slash 5,000 jobs by year end–including “hundreds” in Houston–as part of a sweeping reorganization.
New CEO Peter Voser said the strategy is needed to make the company more competitive.
But under a separate program, the European oil giant has been quietly transferring additional office jobs from Houston and elsewhere to India and the Philippines to reduce costs.
According to internal Shell documents obtained by the Chronicle and a person familiar with the plan the “migration” programs affect employees in finance and other support functions, which are being consolidated in what the oil company calls “shared service centers” in low-cost countries to fit the new company structure.

Public Sector Unions Are Killing California

William Voegeli writes in City Journal:
Before 1990, [California and Texas] grew much faster than the rest of the country. Since then, only Texas has continued to do so. While its share of the nation’s population has steadily increased, from 6.8 percent in 1990 to 7.9 percent in 2007, California’s has barely budged, from 12 percent to 12.1 percent.
Unpacking the numbers is even more revealing—and, for California, disturbing. The biggest contrast between the two states shows up in “net internal migration,” the demographer’s term for the difference between the number of Americans who move into a state from another and the number who move out of it to another. Between April 1, 2000, and June 30, 2007, an average of 3,247 more Americans moved out of California than into it every week, according to the Census Bureau. Over the same period, Texas saw a net gain, in an average week, of 1,544 people.
So why are Americans, predominantly middle class Americans, fleeing California?
The biggest factor accounting for California’s loss of population to the other 49 states, bond ratings that would embarrass Chrysler or GM, and state politics contentious and feckless enough to shame a banana republic, has to be its public sector’s diminishing willingness and capacity to fulfill its promises to taxpayers.
…
According to a report issued earlier this year by McKinsey & Company, Texas students “are, on average, one to two years of learning ahead of California students of the same age,” though expenditures per public school student are 12 percent higher in California.
H-1B Bodyshop vs. U.S. First Amendment: The Case Of “Tunnel Rat”

By Rob Sanchez
The blogger who goes by the nickname “Tunnel Rat” has the status of a folk hero for American computer/IT and engineering professionals. He is celebrated for his acerbic commentaries on his website, ITGrunt. At least a portion of Tunnel Rat’s mystique derives from his persona as a geeky Lucha libre-type masked hero. The internet has been rife with speculation by both by his fans and detractors as to his identity and whether his writings represent reality or fantasy. All of that buzz adds to his legendary status.
“Tunnel Rat” expresses the popular rage of American high-tech professionals as they are dispossessed by immigration and outsourcing. His blogs are hard-hitting, profane and politically incorrect, especially in regards to corporate politics, stupid managers, and unqualified H-1B visa-holders from India hired as programmers and engineers by high-tech companies. VDARE.COM’s Patrick Cleburne has described ITGrunt as “the go-to source for H-1B/ American Worker Displacement atrocities”.
But don’t bother going to ITGrunt’s website now, because it and several other websites have been removed from the internet. (Remnants of the site are still in Google’s cache but they are disappearing fast). This happened on December 23rd because of litigation by the Indian-owned bodyshop APEX Technology Group. Apex is run by Sarvesh Kumar Dharayan [email him]. APEX has been demanding that various websites—some apparently run by desis from India!—remove all mention of its name.
Judge James P. Hurley of The Superior Court of New Jersey ordered the internet service provider Godaddy.com to cancel the domain addresses associated with ITGrunt.com and endh1b.com . In addition, discountASP.NET was ordered to remove the pages from its web servers. Although Judge Hurley’s order was issued right before Christmas, these companies were required to act within 3 calendar days.

Positive Signs from Peoria: White Middle America in Revolt

by Rob Freeman
I’m not one of those people who worries about the day when Whites are a mere 49.9% of the population. Nor does it especially bother me that those who hate us have seized the cushy positions in academia and government. In the case of the latter, think about the fact that they have put their faces in charge right when America is on the sharp decline. Moreover, I want Whites to become feral economic survivors, masters of the underground economy, and tribally networked. Your contact list of friends, whether in a Rolodex, a cell phone contacts list, or an e-mail list, is your second greatest weapon next to your brain.
Optimism and cheerfulness is also important — Strength through Joy, even as economic conditions worsen and America becomes Third-worldized. Why optimism and cheerfulness? Robert Taber’s “War of the Flea” provides the ingredients of the witches brew we seek to concoct — the Will to Revolt in our People. From the first chapter of War of the Flea:
It is a revolutionary impulse, an upsurge of popular will, that really has little to do with questions of national or ethnic identity, or self-determination, or forms of government, or social justice, the familiar shibboleths of political insurgency . . .
The will to revolt . . . is a newly awakened consciousness, not of “causes,” but of potentiality. It is a spreading awareness of the possibilities of human existence, coupled with a growing sense of the causal nature of the universe, that together inspire, first in individuals, then in communities and entires nations, an entirely new attitude toward life.
Limitations that were formerly accepted all at once become intolerable. The hint of imminent change suggests opportunities that had not been glimpsed until now. The will to act is born. It is as though people everywhere were saying: Look, here is something we can do, or have, or be, simply by acting. Then what have we been waiting for? Let us act!
This . . . describes the state of mind of the modern insurgent, the guerilla fighter . . . his secret weapon, above and beyond any question of strategy or tactics or techniques of guerilla warfare, is nothing more than the ability to inspire this state of mind in others. The defeat of the military enemy, the overthrow of the government, are secondary tasks, in the sense that they come later. The primary effort of the guerilla is to militate the population, without whose consent no government can stand for a day.
Something better is possible. A world where white teenaged girls ARE NOT shacking up with blacks. Where we are not ruled by our affirmative action inferiors. Where we are not taxed to pauperism, to pay for the pet voters of our enemies. We can have White schools with high standards, and White culture without mandatory diversity. We need only act.
Tea party movement grows

Danita Kilcullen of Fort Lauderdale stands at at the intersection of Federal Highway and Oakland Park Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale with her fellow protesters. The protesters are part of the tea party movement and stage a weekly protest at the intersection.
It could be the birth of a party.
Fueled by anger at politicians and distrust of the government, the rapidly growing tea party movement could upend the political establishment in the 2010 elections — ultimately becoming a permanent, game-changing force in American politics.
Or, it could fizzle.
Even supporters aren’t sure. Joyce Kaufman, a talk-show host on WFTL, AM 850, thinks the answer will come in the November elections. “If nothing happens in 2010, it falls apart,” she said.
But she doesn’t see that happening.
“It’s going to be a huge dynamic. I don’t think it’s going to be easily defused. I think what you’re going to see is an energized voice. What they will do is come out and vote. The tea party movement is going to make a difference,” Kaufman said.
From its start in February with an on-air rant by CNBC analyst Rick Santelli, who said he was organizing a “Tea Party” for those opposed to the president’s proposed homeowner bailout plan, the tea party brand has become formidable. Protesters turned out for tea party demonstrations in cities across the country on April 15, then again to voice their opposition to health care legislation at town hall meetings throughout the summer.
Now, tea party supporters and related groups have picked up where the demonstrations left off. They are active throughout the United States and in South Florida, where they’re holding regular protests, preparing to register voters and recruiting more and more followers.
