Instead of a rich legacy bequeathed upon the United States by forever U.S. Senator Teddy Kennedy, the oft-intoxicated, blubbery fourth brother of the Kennedy clan—four decades ago–drunkenly drove over a bridge that caused the death of Mary Jo Kopechne and lied about what happened.

But his worst and most destructive legacy for the United States stems from his authorship of the 1965 “Immigration Reform Act” that added the bulk of our additional 100 million people into America within 40 years. It jumped legal immigration from 170,000 annually to 1.1 million annually. Added to that disastrous environmental legacy, his actions provoked a complete ethnic change of our stable society into a fractured civilization. How? He provided for entrance of immigrants from cultures totally incompatible with U.S. culture. He downgraded citizenship by not enforcing our laws or maintaining educational standards.

As those immigrants poured into this country, he facilitated and languished as millions of illegal aliens marched across our borders to wreak havoc on our schools, communities, jobs, hospitals, language and prisons. Over 20,000 members of MS-13 gangs distribute $130 billion in drugs yearly. We pay for 400,000 babies born to illegal alien mothers annually. We suffer 28 million Americans on food stamps because illegals downgrade wages and take jobs from our working poor.

PHILADELPHIA - One-time thief Heber Nixon Jr. has filled out his share of futile job applications. All said being a felon wouldn’t stand in his way — but the promised calls from managers never came.

He finally got a second chance when he showed up at a construction site looking for work and found a sympathetic builder.

Now, the city of Philadelphia is making a concerted effort to encourage the hiring of ex-convicts amid a renewed interest nationwide in dealing with high recidivism, growing crime rates and exploding prison populations.

Philadelphia averaged a murder a day the past two years and has been sued to reduce its overcrowded, record-high jail population.

So on his 100th day in office last month, Mayor Michael Nutter announced a program, being headed by an ex-offender, that gives $10,000 a year in municipal tax credits to companies that hire former prisoners and provide them tuition support or vocational training.

Plans to build a Muslim school on the outskirts of Sydney have sparked a backlash that has been stoked by fundamentalist Christians and far-right politicians who have no connection with the area.

Councillors in Camden will vote tonight on whether to allow the A$19m (£9.2m) school to go ahead. While they say they will base their decision on planning grounds alone, observers believe it will be difficult for them to ignore the racial and religious passions that have been stirred up.

Liberal Australia has been shocked by the ferocity of the opposition. Riot police were called when nearly 1,000 people turned up at a public meeting of anti-school campaigners. Two pigs’ heads, impaled on stakes, with an Australian flag strung between them, were left on the proposed site, a paddock on the fringes of town. Among the meeting’s organisers was Fred Nile, leader of a fundamentalist Christian party and a long-standing member of the New South Wales parliament. Mr Nile – who has no links with Camden – accused Muslims of hating Christians, and called for a moratorium on Muslim immigration.

Richard Barnbrook, the British National party’s London Assembly member, has used a blog on the Daily Telegraph’s website to blame immigrants and their sons for knife and gun crime among young people in the capital after a spate of murders.

Under the headline “Blame the immigrants”, the posting on My Telegraph, a platform which allows readers to publish their own articles, Barnbrook claims the perpetrators are protected by a government eager to secure the “Ethnic Block-Vote” and says immigrants “will not be allowed to terrorise our kids any longer”.

“I have had enough of political correctness,” he writes. “I have had enough of people being afraid to actually say what they really want to say. Yes … it is the immigrants.” He continues: “The real crime is on the streets, and it is the young people who are being attacked every day now by knives and guns. Most of it is being done by immigrants or by the sons of immigrants who have been protected by a despicable government desperate for the Ethnic Block-Vote.”

A hearing last week before the House Homeland Security Committee would have been hilarious if it hadn’t been so appalling, or maybe it’s the other way around. Anyhow, according to a May 21 article in Congressional Quarterly (subscription required), the focus was on the Department of Homeland Security’s efforts to achieve greater racial and ethnic diversity in its personnel, and of course the committee’s Democrats thought that DHS needed to do more to get its numbers right.

The appalling/hilarious part is how openly contemptuous the committee was of rules, regulations, and procedures to ensure that the federal government not give preference based on race and ethnicity. “You can’t hire anybody unless they go through this [race-blind] Web site, so how can you have any kind of affirmative action program?” asked the incredulous Rep. Norm Dicks (D-Wash.).

Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Tex.) impatiently noted that such regulations could be gotten around. “If you really want to diversify, you can diversify.” Notwithstanding the “legal barriers,” he said, “it can be done.” He cited his own successes in avoiding a pesky federal court order when he was the state chairman of higher education in Texas: “I did what I needed to do and diversified.”

Outraged MPs, serving firefighters and racial equality groups have accused Avon Fire Service of discrimination against white people.

Last week it emerged that out of 895 applicants, 19 white men and three white women have been offered posts as trainee firefighters. Just one is from an ethnic minority.

But the single ethnic recruit has helped Avon meet Government targets, which state that 4.3 percent of recruits – about one in 23 – must be from an ethnic minority.

Yesterday Philip Davies, Tory MP for Shipley, West Yorkshire, condemned what he called the “patronising” example of extreme political correctness.

He said: “This is an entirely predictable outcome. People try to flex their politically correct muscles and it’s a waste of time and money.

“Not only has this no doubt well-meaning initiative been totally misguided but it hasn’t delivered the results. The only way we are going to have complete equality in the job market is to give people jobs based on merit, regardless of their race, religion, or sexual orientation.

Many arguments, pro and con, about how to deal with illegal aliens have been passionately debated over the past couple of years, but there are still other arguments that need public exposure. Mark Krikorian presents a new argument in his forthcoming book called “The New Case Against Immigration, Both Legal and Illegal.”

The pro-more-immigration crowd argues that today’s immigrants are just like immigrants of a century ago: poor people looking for a better life who are expected to advance in our land of opportunity. Krikorian’s new argument is that while today’s immigrants may be like earlier ones, the America they come to is so very different that our previous experience with immigrants is practically irrelevant.

The essential difference between the two waves of immigrants was best summed up by the Nobel Prize-winning advocate of a free market, Milton Friedman. He said, “It’s just obvious that you can’t have free immigration and a welfare state.”

BELGRADE - Following the parliamentary elections in Serbia earlier this month, many are asking just what it means to be patriotic.

President Boris Tadic and his Democratic Party, that won most of the votes in the May 11 polls, were dubbed “traitors of the nation” by parties that call themselves ‘patriotic’, such as the ultranationalist Serbian Radical Party (SRS) or the nationalist Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS).

The labels came because Tadic and his Democrats support Serbia’s membership move towards the European Union (EU). The “high treason”, according to SRS and DSS, arises from the fact that the EU and the United States backed the February independence of the southern Serbian province Kosovo, regarded by many Serbs as key to their identity.

President Tadic answered back that “patriotism in Serbia should be measured by the ability to provide jobs for as many people as possible; and insistence on a European future for Serbia is the only policy to guarantee new jobs and economic improvement. That means dignity, and not empty words or false patriotism.”

Sociologists have joined the debate over just what patriotism is.

DEL RIO, Texas, May 25 (UPI) — Jails and prisons in Texas are brimming with illegal immigrants caught and detained as part of a zero-tolerance policy in some areas, officials say.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Sunday that in Del Rio, Texas, the Val Verde County Jail, for example, is filled with illegal immigrants ranging from would-be yard workers and maids to dangerous gang members.

The immigrants were caught as part of Operation Streamline, a zero-tolerance illegal entry program that began in Val Verde County and has spread to other border communities, the newspaper said.

“Enforcement works,” Val Verde County Sheriff D’Wayne Jernigan said. “We’re definitely seeing a reduction in crime throughout the border area and a reduction in the number of aliens running loose in our community.”

Jernigan said the number of people trying to sneak into the United States has slowed in his jurisdiction even without a border fence.

Eight years ago, his jail had 180 beds. This year, after a second 600-bed expansion, the jail has room for 1,425 prisoners.
