UK paying for ‘migrant baby boom’

The NHS is spending £350m a year to provide maternity services for foreign-born mothers, £200m more than a decade ago, the BBC has found

Immigration has raised the birth rate so fast that some units have closed, so that midwives could be moved to areas of urgent need.

A unit in Ascot, Berkshire, shut for two months in 2007 because staff had to be transferred to Slough.

The NHS says it is working to “build in” the extra capacity needed.

Other maternity units have turned expectant mothers away because they could not cope with unprecedented increases in the local birth rate.

When Labour came to power, the NHS spent around £1bn a year on maternity services, with one baby in eight delivered to a foreign-born mother.

Ten years on, spending has risen to £1.6bn, with almost one baby in four delivered to a mother born overseas.

US Attorney: Illegal immigrants provide “modern-day slave labor”

U.S. Attorney Bob Balfe says federal immigration agents and local police in northwest Arkansas have only gone after employers who flout the law and exploit illegal immigrant workers

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - U.S. Attorney Bob Balfe says federal immigration agents and local police in northwest Arkansas have only gone after employers who flout the law and exploit illegal immigrant workers.

Balfe says illegal immigrants are “modern-day slave labor.” His comments come after a recent raid on a chain of Mexican restaurants.

In recent years, Balfe acknowledged it may appear that officials are targeting Hispanics. However, he stressed his office has been involved in other cases involving employers hiring illegal immigrants from Asia and Czechoslovakia.

Balfe said the prosecutions also help illegal immigrants, as they often work without overtime pay, aren’t afforded the right to unionize or fear filing grievances against employers.

Britain’s top black police officer: ‘We are struggling to cope with immigrant crime wave’

This is another largely rural police force which is having to spend money on translation services and cope with extra pressures caused by fast rates of immigration. Without properly controlled immigration this problem will only get worse

Britain’s highest ranking black policeman has warned the Home Secretary his force is struggling to cope with an immigrant crimewave.

Kent chief constable Mike Fuller told Jacqui Smith “migration surges” had contributed to an increase of more than a third in violent crime over five years to 7,800 incidents in 2007.

In a leaked letter, he said the Government’s failure to increase his budget to match the population rise will have a “negative impact on performance”.

He says migration accounts for 78 per cent of Kent’s population growth and warned of the soaring cost of translation services, up by a third in three years.

Mr Fuller, whose force polices ferry ports and the Channel tunnel, says he will need an extra 560 constables if the immigrant population continues to surge. He says Kent’s population is expected to rise from 1.6million now to 1.9million by 2029 - mostly from immigration.

Border wars personal out West

When it comes to immigration, places like Greeley show just how deep the divide is

GREELEY — When Joy Breuer looks around her hometown, she sees two kinds of immigrants: “the good Mexicans” and “the Latinos.”

By her definition, good Mexicans “come to America to become U.S. citizens, become a part of the community. They work very hard to learn the language. They show a lot of respect to everyone as well. They just want to be an American.”

The Latinos? “The Latinos are here to establish another Mexico,” she said. “That was their goal: to make Spanish the second language — and then the first language — of this country.”

Breuer, who runs the Greeley for God ministry, stands at one end of the polarized debate about the millions of people who have streamed across the southern border of the United States in search of a better life.

From the office she calls “God’s House” to presidential campaign stops across the country, the debate over immigration policy has taken on a harsh tone. It has been particularly heated in the West, where Rocky Mountain states have witnessed a huge surge in immigrants and Colorado U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo made illegal immigration the centerpiece of his now-ended presidential campaign.

A warning on illegal immigrants

A stepped-up federal crackdown on incarcerated illegal immigrants could swamp Dane County ’s court system, a Madison lawyer is warning.

Anthony Delyea has threatened to resign from the Criminal Defense Project, a county program that provides legal counsel for defendants who don ‘t qualify financially for a public defender, unless the county changes its policy of reporting undocumented inmates to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Delyea has three cases going to trial Monday involving defendants who typically would accept plea bargains and reduced jail sentences.

But recent fears in the Hispanic community that even a short jail sentence could mean deportation have led more illegal immigrants charged with crimes such as drunken driving to opt for a lengthy trial, Delyea said.

The county pays Delyea $325 per misdemeanor case and $500 plus $40 an hour per court appearance for felony cases. Delyea said less than 5 percent of the 40 to 50 cases in the program each year go to trial. But if more of those cases go to trial, he wouldn ‘t be able to participate in the program because those cases would take up too much of his time.

Anchor Babies Weigh Down Economy

Patriotism is when the love of your own people comes first

About every six months the population of the U.S. increases about as much as the population of Tallahassee. Who are these hundreds of thousands of new citizens? They are newborns, children of illegal aliens born in the United States - birthright citizens, “anchor babies” - not illegal aliens. This quirky legal right then allows the mother’s parents and siblings to remain, and later a whole bunch of their relatives to immigrate legally. This why they are also known as “Jackpot babies.”

Just consider Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, the second busiest maternity ward in the U.S. In 2006, 70 percent of the women giving birth in Parkland were illegal immigrants. That added up to 11,200 babies for which Medicaid kicked in $34.5 million to deliver these babies, the feds another $9.5 million and Dallas taxpayers tossed in $31.3 million. The average illegal patient is 25 years old and giving birth to her second anchor baby. We could also talk about California, but you get the point.

By law, illegal immigrants cannot be denied medical care based on their inability to pay or their immigration status. These women also receive free prenatal care, medication, car seats, bottles, diapers and formula.

The U.S. and a few other countries offer citizenship to anyone born on their soil. The United Kingdom and Australia abandoned this practice in the 1980s after being abused by immigrants for many years.

Why do we allow this to continue? The 14{+t}{+h} Amendment to the U.S. Constitution reads:

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the states wherein they reside…

Fire service bans white men from open days - to boost number of ethnic minority recruits

Two of the six-hour sessions have been limited strictly to women and ethnic minorities. Another was for women only and a fourth was laid on exclusively for ethnic minorities

White men have been banned from fire brigade recruitment sessions because bosses want to hit their diversity targets.

Four out of five “open” days held by Avon Fire Service were restricted to women and ethnic minorities.

Critics last night accused the West Country brigade of discrimination. An MP said the move would fuel resentment and undermine race relations.

Avon’s bosses insist their ban on white men is simply “positive action”.

Back in October, the same brigade demoted a fire crew who shone their torches at four men they found having sex in bushes.

The decision sparked an outcry from critics who claimed it was politically correct madness.

In the latest incident, five “have-a-go” days at the brigade’s Bristol HQ were set up to allow potential job applicants to try out firefighting equipment.

Does Race Matter - Recent Developments

Once upon a time it was expected that changes in laws would bring about racial equality. What is one to think when, despite these laws, racial differences in achievement have changed little in the last twenty-five years? An Associated Press bulletin from October 30th, 1997 is entitled “D.C. students post disappointing scores.” Recent reports indicate that a black male in Washington, D.C. has about an 85% expectation of being arrested at least once in his life. Despite over thirty years of legislation and affirmative action, the situation has in many ways worsened. What are we missing?

Gunnar Myrdal’s An American Dilemma was published by the Carnegie Foundation fifty-three years ago and is considered the most important book published on race relations in America. In fact, one could argue that it is the single most important study of American society published in the 20th Century. Myrdal was from Sweden, a mono-racial country where black-white relations were never a problem. Essentially, Myrdal argued that the problem with American black culture was pathological. The cause of this condition was simple: discrimination. Blacks were disadvantaged because whites would not allow blacks to participate fully in American life. Since the cause was simple the solution was equally simple: end discrimination. The origins and logic of the mores of the existing society were unimportant; it is not just (said the world-renowned egalitarian socialist) therefore it must be changed.

Some strongly disagreed with Myrdal’s diagnosis of pathology, including influential blacks in favour of change; but their criticisms went unheeded. For example, the black intellectual, Ralph Ellison, wrote a solicited review of An American Dilemma for The Antioch Review, but they refused to publish it because of its antagonistic approach. Ellison thought it absurd that anyone would believe that his black culture was created by discrimination. He wrote:

Can a people live and develop for over 300 years simply by reacting? Are American Negroes simply the creation of white man, or have they at least helped to create themselves out of what they found around them? Men have made a way of life in caves and upon cliffs, why cannot Negroes have made a life upon the horns of the white man’s dilemma?

He argued that Myrdal’s view robbed blacks of dignity. Indeed many other ethnic groups in the United States had suffered discrimination, including the Chinese, the Irish and the Jews and yet neither Myrdal nor others were calling their cultures pathological.

4. $12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!
5. $17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.
6. $3 Million Dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens.
7. 30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens.
8. $90 Billion Dollars a year is spent on illegal aliens for Welfare and Social Services by the American taxpayers.
9. $200 Billion Dollars a year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.
10. The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that’s two-and-a-half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the US.
11. During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border also, as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroin and marijuana, crossed into the U. S from the Southern border. Homeland Security Report.
12. The National Policy Institute, “estimated that the total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five year period.”
13. In 2006 illegal aliens sent home $45 BILLION in remittances back to their countries of origin.

About 80% of black babies are born to unwed moms

Curt Smith, president of the Indiana Family Institute, which advocates for traditional families and values, blames the sexual revolution, no-fault divorce and the more recent discussions about same-sex marriage and other "marriage substitutes."

About eight in 10 black children in Indiana are born to unwed parents — a start to life that sets them up for problems during adolescence and beyond, according to an Indiana Black Expo report.

Indiana’s black youths fare significantly worse than Hoosier youths in general across 18 indicators of well-being, such as graduation rates and poverty levels, and do worse than black youths in the U.S, according to the report being released Friday.

Tanasha Anders, acting president and chief executive of Indiana Black Expo, said the problem comes down to education — making sure young people finish school and understand the consequences of having a baby.

“Everything else is a domino effect,” she said.

The explosion of births to unwed parents is driving many of the state’s social problems, such as increases in poverty and child abuse and the growing cost of public aid, said Bill Stanczykiewicz, president and CEO of the Indiana Youth Institute. He added that the problem is not exclusive to any one race.

Indiana’s out-of-wedlock birthrate is at an all-time high, with unwed mothers accounting for nearly 40 percent of all births, he said. Nationally, about 36 percent of all births are to unwed mothers.
